Gwaunmeisgyn

Gwaun

The Club is based in Gwaunmeisgyn Primary and has the use of the ‘small’ hall and kitchen facilities within the staff room, outdoor space and the large hall adjacent to the main school entrance. The large hall will be used if there are events being held within the small hall, these will only be for temporary periods.

The club operates for boys and girls of Clwb Y Ddraig aged 3-12 years as stated in the admissions policy. The Club caters for upto 48 children, in line with our Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) registration.   It is anticipated the club will cater for 24 children under the age of 8 and 24 children over the age of 8.

The Club offers a child centred environment meeting the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional needs of children and recognising the individual needs of each child who attends.

A wide variety of activities are offered. The team work closely with the school team to collaborate on themes and planning, allowing the it to flow for all children. Short, medium and long term planning will be in place, whilst still offering opportunities for free play. Children will be encouraged to participate in the planning and evaluation of activities and ideas for equipment when it is being purchased.

Snacks and drinks are available during the session. All food and drinks offered are in line with our healthy eating policy, and meet the dietary needs and preferences of children as indicated on the child’s registration form.

Meet Naomi

I have worked with children age 0-11 since I started training back in 2016, I did my childcare level 2 and 3 with Hen Felin training, worked in nurseries up until I started with Clwb Y Ddraig in June 2024. In my spare time I like going out and trying new restaurants, visiting family and friends. I have 3 children, I am very close to all my family and absolutely love doing things all together. Some of my favourite play memories are going down porthcawl every school holiday from a young age with my gran and grandfather as they owned a caravan down there. Play means a lot to me, I couldn’t imagine doing a different job now. It encourages my imagination as well as my creativity. I love my job because the children are so welcoming, the different activities we do on a weekly basis and all the staff I work along side.

Meet Emily

I have been working with Clwb Y Ddraig since June 2023. In my spare time I enjoy baking. My family life is chaotic being one of 7 siblings but a lot of fun. My favourite play memory is play fighting with my brother every chance we got. Play means engaging in something that is fun and enjoyable. I love that my job promotes play projects and that I get to have as much fun as the children when at work.

Ellie

Meet Ellie

I have been working with Clwb Y Ddraig since July 2023, I also have experience with children with additional learning needs. In my spare time I love reading, going on walks and spending time with friends. My favourite play memory is going to the beach with my younger brother and sister and my family. Play is a huge part of a child's learning journey, covers all areas of development while being fun for the child. I love watching the children in my care grow, learn new things, reach different milestones it gives me a sense of achievement helping them and teaching them, seeing them happy, i enjoy watching them reach their potential and supporting them.
